All Star Game tonight!

We found out our new work schedules today at work. The shift bidding was based 60% on your performance so far this year and 40% on seniority in the company. With that formula I ranked 2nd out of 25 and managed to get my first shift choice: 7:30a-4:00p Mon-Fri!

Tonight is the All Star Game and 5 Red Sox players are there: Jason Bay, Kevin Youkilis, Tim Wakefield, Josh Beckett, and Jonathan Papelbon. Out of the 5, only one is in the starting lineup: LF Jason Bay. Be sure to tune in tonight at 8pm on FOX. There are always amazing opening ceremonies!

Also, tomorrow night at 9:30pm on HBO they are showing a documentary on Ted Williams. Below is the description:

Ted Williams wanted to be the greatest hitter who ever lived...and he became just that. This HBO Sports documentary explores the life, career and bizarre end of "The Kid," the Boston Red Sox slugger who lived in the constant pursuit of perfection. Utilizing rare film clips, interviews and archival insights from Williams himself, the film paints a definitive portrait of this magnificent athlete whose thirst for greatness often put him at odds with his time, his fans and himself. Williams' two stints as a Navy pilot are also explored, as is his post-baseball success as a Hall of Fame fisherman, his three volatile marriages, his emotional reconciliation with fans during the 1999 All Star Game at Fenway Park and the strange circumstances surrounding his 2002 death.

Uneventful Day

I don't know what we did to deserve it, but we are experiencing 3 beautiful days in a row here in New England!

Today I am doing laundry and cleaning the condo before heading back to work tomorrow.  Overall, not very exciting but it is all stuff that needs to be done especially after picking up a few things at Old Navy and two t-shirts at Bob's the other day (a Pedroia and Bay player shirt).

Tonight I will tune into the Home Run Derby on ESPN.  While it is not the most productive way to spend the night, they do raise thousands of dollars for charity.

I guess that's it for now.  If you have any ideas of things to watch tonight or any other night this week while the All-Star break is on feel free to click the "Discuss!" link immediately following this post and share your thoughts!

Finally, a Saturday I can enjoy!

Thanks to the shift-swap I did on Monday, I am enjoying a Saturday, Sunday and Monday weekend.  It will be the last 3 day weekend I have for quite a while.

I am thinking of going down to the Bobs store in Bedford to pick up a Jason Bay t-shirt then stopping by the Old Navy at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester to pick up a few things then go food shopping before coming home and watching the Sox at 7.

Uneventful weekend overall with the usual cleaning, laundry and relaxing although I hope to spend some time outside enjoying the sun.  Since it seems to elude us all summer, I am not going to let it happen this weekend!

I leave you with a video from 'Red Eye'

Watch Out! Desk coming through...

So we were all shocked yesterday when we found out our jobs would be outsourced and we would be going to a different department.  I'm not going to get into it here since I am frankly tired of talking and thinking about it.

Tomorrow after work I am headed down to my Aunt and Uncles' house in Salem, MA where they are having a cookout.  Also attending will be my Grandparent's, my Mom, cousins and my other Aunt & Uncle from Virginia who happen to be in Massachusetts for just 2 days.  It will be the first time seeing them in... frankly I have no idea how long!

I really have no other news tonight so I am including a video from 'Red Eye' in which Greg Gutfeld talks about Obama's health plan:

Also, here's a video from Monday's "Tonight Show" in which Conan takes his desk out for a drive!

I got a PoGo!

I hope everyone had a nice 4th.

I went to my Parent's house Friday afternoon (the 3rd) and had a nice dinner with my Mom and Grandparent's.  My Step-Dad was in Pennsylvania visiting his side of the family.

Yesterday I went up to "Castle in the Clouds" and had a lunch/dinner at the Canoe restaurant.  The weather was "iffy" throughout the day up there so I headed back home and watched the Pops on the Charles River Esplanade.  Looks like it was a good show to attend but the 500K people is a little too much for me to contend with after.

Today I went up to Target, Walmart and Best Buy to do my food shopping and pick up the Polaroid PoGo printer.  While the quality is not the best, the fact you can print wirelessly (via Bluetooth) from one of the compatible cell phones is awesome.  In less than 60 seconds a 2" X 3" photo comes out!

Best of all the pictures are ink free (the crystals in the paper forms the color), smudge free, tear proof, water resistant and archival (they will last upwards of 1000 years).

The Red Sox have really stunk up the place the last 2 days.  They play at 1:30 today and I hope they can win one against the Mariners.  Their lead in the A.L. East is down to just one game after being up to 5 a week or so ago.

I leave you today with the Narional Anthem as performed by Jordin Sparks before Superbowl XLII:

Perpetual Clouds

Well, here I am on the eve of the second of three 3-day weekends in a row.

For only working two days this week I definitely need it. Today was BRUTAL!

I am headed to my parent's again tomorrow afternoon for a 3rd of July cookout. My Grandparent's will be there so that will be good. Not sure what I am doing on the 4th yet.  I just hope the sun comes out.  The clouds and rain have just been relentless!

With no Red Sox game on, there's not much to do.  I have Pandora playing in the background now and its playing a nice mix.

Guess that's it for now.  Have a great holiday weekend!

Closer to Red Sox, American Workers, Mat Kearney & Billy Mays

I had a really nice dinner at my parent's last night. It was steaktips on the grill, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. After we went down to the center of town and walked a short portion of the new bike path that will eventually connect Lowell with Framingham (25 miles).

Today will be uneventful overall. The Red Sox are @ Baltimore tonight so I will watch that and I may put the iPod on shortly to just chill.

I leave you today with videos from all over the map. The first one is a video from New Balance. I just saw an interview with their President and CEO on Fox Business discussing the importance of keeping American jobs in place. Thanks to that, 25% of the shoes they make are made here.

Next, here's a video from 'The Tonight Show' from a week ago (6/23).  Here, Conan interviews [the late] Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan.  As you now know, Mays was found dead in his Florida home on Sunday.

Finally, here's a video of Mat Kearney playing "Closer to Love" acoustically in a gym.  A very unique way to create the sound of drums here!

Random Info

Uneventful but relaxing day today.

The Red Sox lost to the Braves 2-1 today and the Yankees play the Mets tonight.  They have a chance to close the gap to a 3 game lead by the Sox in the AL East.  Hopefully the Mets can find a way to pull out a win!

I just made plans with my Mom for tomorrow.  Due to the possibility of rain tomorrow we are not going to take the Duck Tours so I am just heading down there for dinner.  Maybe Chinese food or something.  Hopefully something a little different than usual.

Still no plans for my Birthday but that's OK.

Have a nice night everyone!

First of Three 3-Day Weekends In A Row!

I have a 3 day weekend this weekend thanks to my Birthday on Tuesday. Next weekend is the 4th of July (celebrated on Friday the 3rd at work) so I am off Friday and I took Saturday the 4th off. The following weekend someone is working for me after I work for them on Monday the 6th so a few long weekends in a row.

No big news at all now. I am exhausted and will be going to bed soon. Tomorrow the Red Sox are playing at 1:30 and then I will clean the condo a bit. Monday I am food shopping and getting my hair chopped off... very short. No plans yet on my Birthday but not having to go into work for the day is worth it!

I leave you tonight with "Sweet Up And Down" from "The Lillywhite Sessions"

Have a nice night!
