I got my car!

Yes, I'm still alive....

Looking back on my blog I just realized the last post I made was 6 weeks ago when I initially test drove the Elantra.  Last Saturday, after 5 weeks I finally picked it up.  As you can see in the pictures below it's an amazing shade of blue and it was manufactured just 10 days before I hot it!

Registration was simple.  I went down to City Hall on Friday and transferred the Registration from my Saturn (which I sold last Sunday).  It ended up costing me $305 and was pro-rated to June (my birth month).

Later today I'm headed down to Chelmsford to have dinner (tacos with the family.

Have a great day everyone!

New Car is on the way!

I went down to Grappone this morning and test drove a 2012 Hyundai Elentra Limited.  It was real nice although I had to keep apologizing to the guy for stepping on the breaks.  I think I gave him whiplash!

I ended up ordering my car and put some money down.  Here's the details:

  • 2012 Hyundai Elantra w/Limited Trim
  • Technology package
  • iPod cable
  • Floor Mats

The only downside is I may have to wait 2-6 weeks for it to come in.  But, it's the color and features I want!

Here's one commercial from the 2011 rollout of the redesigned Elantra:

Have a great Saturday!

Sunday Night Events

I hate to see that Sunday has come, and at 8pm, just about gone.  The only thing to look forward to now is a new episode of 'Entourage' on HBO.

Today was fairly uneventful.  I did the normal Sunday "things" (laundry, cleaning the house, watched the Red Sox).  Thanks to the debacle in DC over our debt, many of the weekday shows were on today (live) to cover any breaking news (of which there was none).

Everything I wanted to do today is done as I write this so I am enjoying some music on my iPod before 'Entourage' comes on in about 2 1/2 hours.

I am hoping to get a call back tomorrow from Grappone on test driving the Elantra.  I guess there is a huge shortage of cars in general.  I'll give them a week and then check out Autofair in Manchester.  Grappone is closer to me and having survived 85 years, they are obviously doing some things right!

Well, being an uneventful day, that's about all I've got.  Have a great Sunday night and week ahead!

New Car?! (Update)

So, my Saturn is considered "Sold!"  I'm going to move things along quicker than originally planned and hopefully test drive an Elantra on Monday the 8th.

Next up: the logistics of registering the new car, selling the Saturn, returning the plates, going to the dealership to pick up the new one... but it's all good!

Tomorrow I'm doing the normal Sunday stuff (laundry, trash, recycling, Red Sox).  Pretty uneventful day but those days are some of the best!

I guess that's all for now.  Here's a review of the 2011 Hyundai Elantra from c|net.  Keep in mind this model is below the one I want so a lot of the extras he talks about are standard.

New Car?!

Again, more time has passed since last posting here.  It's hard for me to get into the groove...

I am on my way to getting a new car.  My current one (a 2001 Saturn SC1) is approaching 150,000 miles and has survived 10 New England winters.  I'm looking at the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited.  It is fully loaded which will be quite a change from the stripped down car I have now.

I have a potential buyer for the Saturn.  If things don't work out, it will be a trade-in and go towards the down-payment.

Here are some photos from the Hyundai website:

I am planning on going to the dealership in Bow, NH later in August for a test drive!

I guess that's about it for now.  I'll try to post again over the weekend.  I leave you tonight with 'Hold On' by KT Tunstall!

Have a great night everyone!

Saturday Night Check-In

It's hard to believe that another week has passed.  It's Saturday night and I'm just relaxing.  I have a concert on that I bought on Blu-ray sometime last year (Sara Bareilles at the Fillmore).

Earlier I went out and got a few things I forgot while shopping last night.  There's a Nascar race in Loudon (about 10 miles from my house) tomorrow so I'm staying put.  Traffic will be bad all day with lane and exit closures as some 100,000 people head into the NH International Speedway.

Tomorrow should be a normal Sunday (cleaning, laundry, and the Red Sox - who play on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball).  Overall, uneventful but it feels good when all of the stuff is taken care of!

Not much news going on here.  I did confirm that my friend Faith will be joining me for the Grace Potter & the Nocturnals show on Saturday August 20th at the Bank of America Pavilion.  I am so looking forward to the show and LOVE introducing people to "new" music and bands.

Guess that's all for now.  Have a great night everyone!

A change in plans...

This week is not turning out the way I intended or wanted it, but I'll have to make due.

Thanks to a couple of projects at work, I had to turn two days back in (which includes my Birthday).  It sucks, but I'll use the days later in the summer.

Friday, however, I am going out to eat (being taken out) with some friends.  I picked Cactus Jack's... delicious food can be found at one of New Hampshire's finest restaurant chains!

This past weekend was pretty cool.  Saturday I  brought my car in for an inspection... that was uneventful.  On Sunday I went to visit Christen.  She was part of my new hire class at work back in 2000 and has since moved down to Virginia Beach.  She's up for a few weeks and a bunch of us got together to celebrate her birthday.

I left there around 4:30 and stopped by my parent's who were also having a cookout.  My Uncle from Virginia was up for just two days so it was really great seeing him.

I guess that's all for now.  I'll try to post more as the week goes on.

Ciao!

'Flower'

No real news tonight.  I found out I have a leak under the sink so I am getting the ball rolling on having a plumber come out.

I'm just posting a video of Amos Lee performing "Flower" from 'Conan' back in May.  What a terrific song.

Have a great night everyone!

It's Keurig time!

The Red Sox just finished their game (beating the Rays 4-2), and wrapping up their road trip with an impressive 8-1 record.  This comes less than 24 hours after the Bruins won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 39 years!

Today I headed out to Bed Bath & Beyond and picked up a Keurig and then went over to the Comcast Service Center in Concord to replace my DVR.  Everything went well, and the box fixed my issue.  I have all of the channels I should have... let's hope we don't have any more power outages for the foreseeable future!

I ended up getting the Special Edition Keurig and it works great.  I ordered 4 boxes of K-Cups and a couple tumblers for the ice tea I'll be making in it.

Tomorrow I'm headed out to do some food shopping and then relax.  Should be uneventful.

Have a great night everyone!
